Man arrested in SWAT standoff that followed alleged attack of ex-girlfriend

A police SWAT unit Photo credit OnScene TV A man holed up in his apartment when officers arrived and refused to surrender Tuesday prompting a five-hour SWAT standoff that ended with his arrest Beforehand he had allegedly threatened to stab his ex-girlfriend at her Otay Mesa home earlier then fled when she called police The woman made a call shortly before a m to account that a -year-old man she had once dated had pulled a knife on her and chased her through her residence near where Coronado Avenue meets Interstate according to the San Diego Police Department By the time officers arrived the suspect had fled Officer Colin Steinbroner stated The personnel then went to the man s apartment in the block of Caminito Tulipan where they evacuated surrounding residences and ordered the suspect to surrender After he refused to do so for nearly four hours police called in a SWAT association Steinbroner disclosed At about a m after officers deployed flash-bang grenades near the front door of the residence he exited and gave himself up without further happening according to police who did not release his name No injuries were stated
